On October 20, 2025, Let’s Build Vermilion’s Future Together
"Vermilion’s future depends on collaboration—whether it’s supporting businesses, improving services, or planning for the needs of tomorrow. Working together, we can create a strong, sustainable community."
— Robert Snow, Candidate for Mayor
Why I’m Running for Mayor:
Building a Stronger Vermilion
I have decided to run for Mayor of The Town of Vermilion because I believe in our community’s potential and want to see it thrive. With over 20 years of experience serving Vermilion as a paramedic, CEO, and Councillor, I’ve seen firsthand the challenges we face and the opportunities we have. Now, I’m ready to bring that experience and dedication to the Mayor’s office to build a future that benefits everyone —individuals, families, businesses, and organizations.
For over two decades, I served Vermilion as a paramedic, committed to the health and safety of our community. After retiring from that role, I became CEO of Focus Society for Support Services, supporting essential programs like disability services, family support, and medical transportation. Since becoming a Town Councillor in 2021, I’ve worked hard on initiatives that strengthen housing, healthcare, economic development, public safety, and regional collaboration.
I actively advocate for Vermilion’s needs with provincial leaders, ensuring our community’s voice is heard in conversations about healthcare, infrastructure, housing, public safety, and growth.
As Mayor, I will focus on:
✅ Financial Responsibility: We must manage our community’s finances transparently and balance spending, debt, and taxes so we can invest in our future without burdening today's residents.
✅ Housing: Expanding housing opportunities to ensure families, newcomers, and aging residents have access to homes that meet their needs.
✅ Health & Wellness: Attracting and retaining healthcare professionals—doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, chiropractors, and others—while supporting those who already serve our community.
✅ Economic Growth: Strengthening local businesses and creating opportunities for new businesses. It is not enough for our businesses to survive; they need to thrive!
✅ Public Safety: We need to strengthen our emergency services, including ambulance coverage for our town, sufficient RCMP presence, and support for our volunteer firefighters. We must advocate for provincial funding for policing, regardless of future changes in law enforcement structure.
✅ Regional Collaboration: Advocating for more provincial attention and investments in Vermilion, ensuring our community is recognized and supported beyond the Highway 2 corridor.
✅ Fostering Growth in Key Services: Pursue opportunities and collaboration to support a sustainable infrastructure, including the airport, library, arena, and other community services, to ensure Vermilion remains a vibrant and well-connected hub.
I know that taxes are often a key concern during elections. My commitment is to make decisions with the best interests of Vermilion in mind—remaining fiscally responsible while focusing on the long-term well-being of our residents.
On this page, I’ll share campaign updates, my calendar for door-to-door visits, local news, and relevant social media articles, as well as discussions on the issues that matter to you. I want to hear your thoughts, concerns, and ideas for Vermilion’s future. Together, let’s build a stronger, more connected community.
Thank you for your trust and support. Together, let’s move Vermilion forward.
— Robert Snow
PLANNING FOR GROWTH — BUILDING VERMILION’S FUTURE
Vermilion is growing, and with that comes the need for more housing. We need to consider options like affordable housing, space for new builds, and room for families ready to grow. But growth takes planning.
One challenge we face is funding the infrastructure needed to support that growth; we currently see this challenge with the sewer trunk line needed for Brennan North. These decisions require careful consideration. They involve collaboration, smart investments, and a clear understanding of the available options. As mayor, I’d work with our administration, local MLA, provincial and federal government to explore funding opportunities while remaining mindful of the financial impact on taxpayers in planning for the future.
Growth comes with costs, but its value is greater. Growth means more families, stronger local businesses, and a thriving community. As we grow, it’s important that council remains transparent and committed to listening. These are the values I stand behind: open communication, building trust, and working together for a stronger Vermilion.
Lets Talk Healthcare
In my time as a paramedic, I’ve seen just how
important reliable healthcare is to our community.
Whether it’s accessing a family doctor,
waiting for specialist care or
calling an ambulance in an emergency,
these are real concerns for many people in Vermilion.
I want to hear from residents about their experiences, and I’m also speaking with healthcare professionals to understand their perspectives.
Your input matters, and together, we can work toward solutions that serve our community.

Let Discuss the Airport
A Discussion on the Vermilion Airport and Its Impact on Healthcare
This week, I had the opportunity to meet with representatives from the Vermilion Airport.
We discussed how, if elected as mayor, we can work together to ensure the airport
remains a key asset for our community. A significant part of our conversation focused
on improving communication and maintaining and improving infrastructure,
like adding GPS landing systems, to ensure the airport remains reliable
for critical services, such as air medical transportation.
The airport plays a vital role in our healthcare system. It ensures that air medical services
can operate efficiently, allowing local paramedics to remain in Vermilion and ready to
respond to local emergencies. Additionally, by facilitating air medical flights, the airport
is key to getting our residents to the specialized treatment centers needed for their treatment and recovery.
If elected mayor, I’ll prioritize open communication and work closely with the airport committee and town council to strengthen the airport’s role in healthcare. It’s about ensuring the services that matter to Vermilion are supported and maintained.
The Airport’s Role in Our Community’s Economy
The Vermilion Airport already supports local businesses and has the potential for
even more growth. It also helps attract visitors to our community, which
supports local commerce. The airport offers creative initiatives,
like aviators camping under their planes and offers aviators complimentary
bicycles to explore Vermilion. This kind of innovative thinking is
something our town should continue to support.
If elected mayor, I will collaborate with the airport committee and the economic
development team to leverage the airport’s full potential for driving economic growth.
By working together, we can unlock new opportunities for job creation and business expansion.
What do you think about the airport’s potential for economic development? Share your thoughts, and let’s continue the conversation about how we can build a stronger community.
